This weekend was beautiful! Sunny and 70+ degrees all weekend so today we decided to pack up the car and drive into the city to take Marley to the zoo for the first time! I love the National Zoo and not only because it's free :)
At the start of the day, in the wagon, covered in sunscreen, with her cool butterfly shades Not very many animals were out and about and it's early in the zoo season here in the Nation's capital so a lot of the exhibits were closed. She spent a lot of time on Daddy's shoulder today. The first animals we saw were the otters. This was when she actually saw the otter sitting on the log
Aunt Sarah and Daddy's friend Dave came with us. Dave asked if he could "drive" the wagon and I was happy to let him do so. He pulled Marley along all day, what a trooper!
Aunt Sarah and I could have sworn we just saw on TV that they sent our Giant Pandas back to China. Obviously we were wrong...
She really seemed to enjoy looking at the animals. It took her a minute or two to locate them but once she did she started talking up a storm!
Too cute
Priceless
For those of you who may not know, Marley's favorite animal right now is a duck, and when we went into the bird house and she saw all the ducks she just giggled and chattered.
This is some sort of crane...I just thought the picture was pretty.
Mommy and Marley checking out the Flamingos. She didn't have to search too hard to find them.
I think the Tiger was hot because this was the only picture I was able to snap before he went inside. I don't know if Marley saw him or not.
Family Pic Time
All tuckered out at the end of the day! The stuffed animals are courtesy of Dave. I went into the gift shop to get her a little something to commemorate and Sarah told Dave that Marley couldn't decide so he got her both. First I told him he didn't need to get them for her but you can't argue with Dave. Then I told him she didn't need both and he said "She doesn't need anything but she Marley and people buy her stuff" I laughed and laughed and laughed. I'm not sure if he realized just how true those words are...

Love the zoo! Hoping you guys wind up in TX (especially the DFW area) so we can all go together! Our zoo is not free but it sure is fun and we have a membership.
