Just Today

I know that we've been AWOL for a while. Yes, I admit, I just did a whole lot of posting that I post dated so make sure you scroll down to keep up to date...even back towards her birthday...

Well, we've been AWOL for a very good reason...Marley's been quite sick. It all started Monday after Kirstin's birthday party at Little Gym (I think that was the 22nd). Marley woke up early and daddy brought her into our room while I was in the shower. When I got out of the shower she was back asleep in our bed but I felt her and she felt warm. We figured it was just because her room was warm so we laid her under our fan without any covers to cool down.

I finished getting ready and about 20 minutes later I picked her up to bring her into her own room to get ready for her day and she was still really hot so I took her temp. It was 101.7. Okay, so I called into work but I had to go over to pick some things up for the day to work on while I was at home so Brett came back for an hour or so. Right before he got home she needed a diaper change and she wasn't feeling any cooler so I took her temp again...102.5...at this point I gave her the Tylenol.

I went to work, grabbed what I needed and headed home. On my way I called the doctor and got an appointment for 10:15. Marley had a cough that had been around since before her birthday so now with the fever I decided a trip was warranted. When I got home around 9, Brett left and Marley woke up because she had a dirty diaper. I checked the temp...103.8...with Tylenol??!!...I packed her up and we headed straight to the doctor right away instead of waiting until her appointment.

They took us back pretty much as soon as we go there and decided to send us for bloodwork and a chest x-ray. They had listened to her lungs and they sounded "ok" but then they heard her cough and they wanted to make sure it wasn't pneumonia. In the meantime, to try and bring her fever down faster they gave us Motrin, well she either spit it out or threw it up but it didn't go down so then came the Tylenol suppository.

That afternoon we got a call from the doc office...no pneumonia (insert heavy sigh of relief here) but her bloodwork came back "very viral." We just had to let it run it's course...

So, thank goodness we have such wonderful family and friends. Kath came to stay with Little Miss on Tuesday and then my mom came up for Wed., Thurs. and Friday. The girl was down for the count all week! And the kicker of it is...she would be okay for the better part of the day and then start running a fever again around 5 PM. I guess it all just caught up with her by the end of the day. That lasted until last night and then today she was fever free all day!! YAY!! Back to daycare tomorrow :) Although, the cough has gotten worse so we are going to call the doc again first thing in the morning and see if we can get her seen.

Here are some pictures of the girl from today. She's feeling better I think and she seems restless. I guess that's to be expected after being cooped up all week. Sorry you can't see much of her face...her hair is getting very long.

Reading her manual...upside down...

She fell over
Finally some good dinner...she hasn't eaten a whole heck of a lot in the last week. Some meals were much better than others but all in all I think she's only had about 1/3 of her normal food intake. And when I brought her in on Monday she was half a pound lighter than the previous Tuesday when we were there for her well baby check.
And as previously mentioned...don't forget to scroll down...way down...to catch up on all the posts like I did tonight...

Marley's First Trip to the Zoo

This weekend was beautiful! Sunny and 70+ degrees all weekend so today we decided to pack up the car and drive into the city to take Marley to the zoo for the first time! I love the National Zoo and not only because it's free :)
At the start of the day, in the wagon, covered in sunscreen, with her cool butterfly shades Not very many animals were out and about and it's early in the zoo season here in the Nation's capital so a lot of the exhibits were closed. She spent a lot of time on Daddy's shoulder today. The first animals we saw were the otters. This was when she actually saw the otter sitting on the log
Aunt Sarah and Daddy's friend Dave came with us. Dave asked if he could "drive" the wagon and I was happy to let him do so. He pulled Marley along all day, what a trooper!
Aunt Sarah and I could have sworn we just saw on TV that they sent our Giant Pandas back to China. Obviously we were wrong...
She really seemed to enjoy looking at the animals. It took her a minute or two to locate them but once she did she started talking up a storm!
Too cute
Priceless
For those of you who may not know, Marley's favorite animal right now is a duck, and when we went into the bird house and she saw all the ducks she just giggled and chattered.
This is some sort of crane...I just thought the picture was pretty.
Mommy and Marley checking out the Flamingos. She didn't have to search too hard to find them.
I think the Tiger was hot because this was the only picture I was able to snap before he went inside. I don't know if Marley saw him or not.
Family Pic Time
All tuckered out at the end of the day! The stuffed animals are courtesy of Dave. I went into the gift shop to get her a little something to commemorate and Sarah told Dave that Marley couldn't decide so he got her both. First I told him he didn't need to get them for her but you can't argue with Dave. Then I told him she didn't need both and he said "She doesn't need anything but she Marley and people buy her stuff" I laughed and laughed and laughed. I'm not sure if he realized just how true those words are...
After the zoo we went out to dinner with Dave because he wanted to take us to this Mexican restaurant and because he's leaving for Afganistan for 21 days next week. It was a really wonderful day! I'm so glad Spring has finally arrived!

Kirstin's Birthday Party

Tonight Marley, Aunt Sarah and I went to a birthday party. Marley's first birthday party experience was her own so this was something new. What wasn't so new was the venue...the party took place at Marley's favorite Saturday hangout...LITTLE GYM. Anyhow, it was Kirstin's birthday (Kirstin is Bethany's daughter, and for those of you who don't know, Bethany is Marley's daycare provider).
Here's a darling picture of the Birthday GirlMarley and Kirstin hang out quite a bit during the day at daycare and it wasn't too much different tonight. Of course Kirstin was running around quite a bit but here she took some time to play and chill with Marley. The first thing my girl wanted when we walked through the doors into the gym were the shakers. She was looking around for the green box and it wasn't in sight so I actually asked the guy working the party if she could have one and he obliged.Just HappyThey blew (blowed?) up the jump track and Marley and Aunt Sarah did a bit of jumping. And then they took a breakA break with MommyMore with the shakerAnd here is the cooles kid on the block with her awesome yellow sunglasses courtesy of her birthday goodie bag! Check out how she's rockin' the Crocs (thanks Fancy!). All in all, I think she enjoyed it.
